Dr. Lalasia Bialic-Murphy
Lead Scientist
Lalasia’s research bridges population and community ecology, with an emphasis on comparative demography. A central theme of her work is identifying the environmental factors and phylogenetic relationships that shape population and community dynamics. Her work ranges from conducting manipulative field experiments to identify the drivers of elevated extinction risk, to leveraging global demographic datasets to characterize the impacts of global change on forest trees. Lalasia received her Ph.D. in 2017 at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and did a postdoc at the University of Tennessee and the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis Center.
